What I find interesting about sorting algorithms, and I think this comes under that heading, is finding out which day of the week was it that say, Julius Caesar was born, assuming the present day calendar. This would involve a counting algorithm possibly.
If say, the end of the World is scheduled for December 31st AD 2500, then what day of the week would the Last Day fall on ?
